OUT OF SHAPE?
Definition:
To be out of shape means to be in poor physical condition, because you do not exercise regularly.
Examples:
1. I haven’t been to the gym all month, and I am getting really out of shape.
2. See example: In fact, I am badly out of shape.
The opposite of being OUT OF SHAPE is to be IN GOOD SHAPE, IN GREAT SHAPE, or IN EXCELLENT SHAPE.
You need to add an adjective when you use this.
It means that someone is in good physical condition.
Example:
He’s in great shape. He runs marathons.
Note: OUT OF SHAPE is not used for illness. For example, if you were ill you would not say, “I am out of shape.”
